As part of the National Broadband Network (nbn) rollout, nbn is establishing a series of fixed wireless facilities, including one proposed for Thompson Beach.
An nbn fixed wireless connection utilises data transmitted over radio signals to connect a premises to the nbn broadband access network. The following video explains how it works and what’s involved.
The proposed Thompson Beach fixed wireless facility is to be located on land leased by the Progress Association at the site of The Shed.
It will consist of a 30m high monopole accommodating three panel antennas and a parabolic dish antenna. Other equipment includes two equipment cabinets.
Ericsson has been engaged by nbn as the equipment vendor and project manager for fixed wireless. Ericsson has subsequently appointed Aurecon to act on its behalf for establishing relevant infrastructure.
A community information session was held regarding the project on Thursday 20th September 2018 at The Shed.
Formal consultation regarding the project will be undertaken in accordance with Council’s requirements. Submissions to Council can be made when the proposal formally commences public notification, which will be broadly advertised.
If you have any questions, Lauren Nicholson (Aurecon) can be contacted on 08 8237 9762.
