FAIBS Shorebird Identification And Dune Cleanup At Thompson

Friends of Adelaide International Bird Sanctuary

Friends of Adelaide Bird Sanctuary (FAIBS) is to hold another of its popular Bird ID sessions at Thompson Beach this month.

“With March here, our amazing migratory body builders are continuing to add the finishing touches to bulk and colour in preparation for their long journey from the Adelaide International Bird Sanctuary to the northern hemisphere Tundra areas to breed,” says FAIBS secretary, Anna Woods.

“With that in mind, we’d love you to join us at Thompson Beach on 15th March at 8.30am to spend the morning viewing these birds before their departure as they feed along the same shores as our resident birds.”

Anna says there are now 3 FAIBS scopes to share with those who attend, along with binoculars.

“It’s a special time of the year, so we hope you can be there.”

Following the ID session, there will be a cleanup in the dunes near Ruskin Road, which is greatly appreciated!
